    How can I access my Amerant Investments account online?

    Log in to Amerant Investments, and follow the instructions

    How can I change my User ID and/or Password for my Amerant Investment online account?

    Your User ID can be changed by contacting your Investment Consultant.

    For domestic customers, your password can be changed in either two ways:
    1. Go to the Amerant Investments login page, click “Forgot Password?”, and follow the instructions, or
    2. Contact your Investment Consultant.

    For international customers, contact your Investment Consultant

    Trust Services

    If assets are under a Trust, will I continue managing the investments as done as of today with my Investment Consultant?

    The Trustee, as the legal owner of the trust assets, including the investment accounts under the trust, might issue a Limited Power of Attorney for you to act as an Authorized Agent of the Trustee in the account(s). You will have the power to trade, purchase and sale but won’t be permitted to redeem or withdraw assets from the investment account(s)

    Can I revoke the trust?

    If the Trust is revocable, yes, the trust is revocable during the Settlor’s life. After the Settlor’s death or incapacity, the trust becomes irrevocable for the benefit of the beneficiaries until the occurrence of an event specified in the trust instrument.

    Can I access the Trust Funds in case of an emergency?

    Yes

    What happens if I, as a Settlor, become incapacitated?

    The trust instrument and/or other documents incorporated to the trust instrument by reference, include provisions to this end. Depending on the language of the Trust Instrument you may be able to designate the person that might make requests to the Trustee for the benefit of the beneficiaries on your behalf while you are incapable.

    What happens with trust assets if the Trustee goes bankrupt?

    Trust assets are not part of Trustee’s assets and cannot be attached by creditors of Trustee. Trust assets will be transferred to a successor trustee either determined by a court of law or by the Settlor/Protector if the Trust instruments provides for this possibility.

    Are assets guaranteed by the mere fact of being under a Trust?

    No. A trust provides no guarantee that funds will not be lost or will lose value if invested in the market. Guarantees may be provided by the financial institution were trust funds are deposited (such as Bank insured by the FDIC, according to the limits specified by the FDIC). Trust Funds that are invested in the market are not guaranteed and may lose value.

    Does Amerant Bank provide legal or tax advice?

    No. Every client is encourage that any proposal be consulted with their own attorney and/or tax expert.

    Why should I hire a Corporate Trustee?

    Corporate Trustee have dedicated and trained specialists to handle complex trust issues and will handle issues in an impartial manner complying with fiduciary duties. Corporate trustee also have the professional and technical resources to manage Trust assets pursuant to the trust instrument and Settlor’s wishes, even avoiding conflicts between family members and beneficiaries. Whereas individual trustees or even family trustees may not have the experience or resources at hand to manage the trust assets per the Trust’s purpose of the Settlor wishes, and might be even be perceived as partial.

    Can the beneficiaries of the Trust be changed?

    Yes, if the trust instrument allows it.

    What happens if one of the beneficiaries dies before Settlor dies?

    In a revocable trust, the Settlor can change or modify the beneficiaries at any time. Trusts normally have default provisions that provide for these situations.

    Can I transfer the trust with/to another trustee?

    Yes, depending on the trust instrument and applicable laws.

    Where are the funds of the trust invested?

    The trust funds are typically held in bank accounts, certificates of deposit, or in investment accounts. Trust can also hold real estate and other type of assets.
